  3. As a year fan of this band, I admit that this album is the weakest piece in an otherwise stellar discography. It's not that the songs are bad -- there are some great tunes here -- but it's obvious that the band let the pressures of recording with anew producer (and the pressure for that elusive "big hit") get the best of them and their better judgment/5(21).

  9. After several exceptional (but commercially underappreciated) classic albums, X decided to change their approach on the fifth album, 's Ain't Love Grand! The most noticeable difference is in the production. Renown heavy metal producer Michael Wagener came on board (his credits included Mötley Crüe, Dokken, and Great White), replacing longtime X ally Ray Manzarek.
